Broken Train
I'm so tired and I was so late for work today.

As Dennis is driving me to the train station, my boss calls me to let me know that the trains aren't running this morning. Apparently, there was a busted down freight train blocking the tracks. So, we drive by the station and sure as hell, there's the freight train right in front of the station.

So, I'm getting all excited thinking - cool! I can't get to work and I can take the day off! No such luck. My boss offers to come pick me up and bring me in. So, not only do I not get a day off, but I have to ride all the way into work with him. Okay, so it's not as bad as it sounds. He's not an asshole or anything. But, I was so hoping to have a day off.

Now I just pray that they're running on schedule tonight. I really don't want to have to have Dennis come pick me up.

I wish I could sneak in a nap. Yea, that's what I want to do. But, I guess for now I'm just going to have to settle on getting some work done.

I can always tell when "the boss" is there because the posts are so much shorter (haha) - Anyway, sorry you had to go to work today, I understand needing a day off too.

So you all tell me what you think about this....my Mom's birthday is Friday. Well, my sister in law called me yesterday and this is how the conversation went:

She: What are you doing Sunday at 12?
    Me: Nothing, why?
She: Oh good! Your Mom wants the entire family to have our picture taken, so I scheduled us to have a family picture taken at 12. Just be sure to wear jeans and a white shirt

Now....mind you all, I do not like my freaking picture taken, nor am I into cheesy crap that like. So now, my Mom, stepdad, brother, his wife and 2 kids, my other brother, his wife and kid and I have to have a family picture taken. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have to dress alike. I mean, come on! We are already dysfunctional enough without having to dress alike. Since I don't have kids, maybe I should bring my dog along and he can pose too. ;)

Ok, enough bitching, I'll get to work now. However, for all you dog lovers, here's a cute link.

Damn, it didn't highlight. I guess just copy and paste it.

Sue, I hope the trains are working when you get off!

*ugh* Yea, I know people who do that.

My sisters dead husband's family does that - only they take it a step further. Dressed in ALL white, not just shirts. My niece took her two sons to visit a year ago and had to go out and find white pants for her two little boys. She was so irritated. Saying, why can't we just wear what we want? Her mother in law would have nothing to do with that.

I think I would probably stay out of the picture! But, then again, I would probably shut up and conform.

Aww, it's cool getting family pictures done though! At least you don't have to do it too often, but I can see why it would be a pain to try and all match, especially if you may not agree on the color selected.

I coordinated family pictures last year for surprise Mother's/Father's Day gifts. We did a sisters photo (I have 2 sisters & no brothers), grandchildren photo, and a full group photo with my husband included. We didn't all dress alike, but the sisters wore aqua colored tops, the girls wore light pink dresses and the boys (including DH) all wore blue shirts with ties.

The pictures turned out really well. I pretty much chose the colors, but I didn't get any gripes from anyone at least. I would have been open to change if people had other suggestions though. I even bought my niece and nephews new clothes to wear in the picture because they didn't have anything nice and my sister didn't want to buy anything.

It is nice to have the colors coordinated at least so that an appropriate background can be chosen that will go with all the colors.

Good luck Virginia. You should bring the dog with. He's part of the family. :o)

Sue - I was so close to calling in sick today. My stomach was really bothering me earlier. If the roads had been crappy again or if there was snow in today's forecast I would have stayed home, but alas today is a sunny (yet FREEZING) day. I just figure there are going to be plenty of other days I will feel like crap so I don't want to waste my sick time now unless there's more than 1 reason to stay home (like the weather). Luckily, whatever it was that was bothering my stomach went away and I feel better now. Now if I could just stay awake.

    Thank God tomorrow is Friday!!!
